The Upside Down

Stranger Things
S01E08
Season 1 Episode 8

The sheriff saving Will's life was great. The flashback didn't even seem that bad even though it was shoehorned in during the last episode.

Eleven showed up & killed the demogorgon in what was supposed to be some bad-ass scene but it ended up being confusing & annoying. The boys suddenly acted as if a slingshot was going to take out an other-worldy monster. It was really dumb. They aren't David. Then eleven knocked Mike out of her way & almost killed him. She didn't come across as a cool superhero coming to the rescue, she seemed like a monster who was cleaning up her mess.

The worst part was Nancy choosing Steve over Jonathan. Of course that's how it would play out in the real world, but it's still annoying to watch in a tv show. The epilogue with Will vomiting up some eel thing might have been interesting if I cared about these characters but I don't.

This show is so over-rated. People are just nostalgic for a simpler time before the internet, the alt-right, the alt-left, twitbook, stranger danger, etc. A small homogeneous town in a time when boys could go ride their bikes for hours &  people didn't worry about them being molested. It's funny that people like this show because it is missing all the things that people claim they want. There is no diversity, no immigrants & no SFC. It's about 3 boys trying to save their white male friend.

The Bathtub

Stranger Things
S01E07
Season 1 Episode 7

They did that stupid thing I hate. Altered States has a sensory deprivation tank in the movie & that's what Mr. Clark just happens to be watching when the kids call him? That's not an Easter Egg, that's insulting the viewer's intelligence. Like we needed to be reminded.

Eleven in the Upside Down was like Under The Skin. Poor Barb is dead, that sucks. Where are her parents, nobody seemed to care about her.

I guess the sheriff was trying to get captured because last time the just put him back at his place.

Steve is suddenly a good guy? He's defending Nancy & willing to fight his friends? What was that all about? Why would he do that after he saw her with Jonathan & got beat up by him.

The Monster

Stranger Things
S01E06
Season 1 Episode 6

Nancy is lucky that the Demogorgon didn't kill her. I'm surprised that Nancy asked Jonathan to sleep over & then told him to get in bed. But he was such a gentleman he didn't try anything. He's going to regret that for the rest of his life.

That was a pretty good fist fight between Jonathan & Steve, Steve deserved worse. I'm surprised the police would get involved.

The knife fight at the gorge, on the other hand, was ridiculously unrealistic. Like some kid is going to cut another kid throat back then. Nonsense. Then Mike actually jumped off the cliff? So stupid. All of this, so 11 could save the day & break that kid's arm.

Eleven is such a little bitch, the store manager tries to help her so Eleven calls him a mouth-breather. He was just trying to help. Then she steals the Eggo waffles & destroys a bunch of things. She's the monster.

The Flea and the Acrobat

Stranger Things
S01E05
Season1 Episode 5

"Did you ever stop to think that maybe she's the monster!"

Sorry Mike, Lucas is right. Eleven is really annoying, instead of telling the boys that it's dangerous she lies to them & almost killed Lucas.

I can't believe Nancy followed the monster into the Upside Down.

I'm surprised the scientists just returned the sheriff to his house. that was dumb. although i like the teacher, it would be better if the kids were learning this stuff from other sci-fi properties. it's like the Duffers only know D&Dd & Star Wars.

Will's father is back but they couldn't resist making the father a selfish jerk who is only back to get money somehow. I don't know why these shows insist on making men into monsters but someone the boys are all honorable heroes? Like a switch is flipped when we turn 21 or something. There are better ways to have the father less involved in the story.

The Body

Stranger Things
S01E04
Season 1 Episode 4

Although I can see how the mom would think Will is alive, it doesn't make sense that she thinks her son isn't dead. If anything she should think that her son's ghost is talking to her.

The scientists are still going into The Mist & lost someone.

I like how the cops were like "is that before or after you changed out of your clothes?" I like that the sheriff is still investigating.

They made Eleven look like a girl so they could contact Will, but this show is popular because people are so unhappy with the world we live in now & they don't seem to realize the reason why they yearn for the life & the town in the show.

Holly Jolly

Stranger Things
S01E03
Season 1 Episode 3

This episode starts with us seeing Barbara get snatched by the monster, but we saw her disappear last episode, so it was anti-climactic. They shouldn't have shown us that last episode.

She's in some alternate universe with a monster, because Barbara is in the same pool but without water. Is the monster in our universe & takes people back to his? Can he temporarily jump here? I don't really care. I'm not impressed that they pulled a Poltergeist scene.  It seems like this show is overhyped because of all the references to other movies. This show is getting boring.

Eleven decides not to kill a cat but she has no problem killing those two men who were just putting her back in her room. Nice hypocrisy. She lets the Millennium Falcon fall twice & glares at the chubby kid when he asks her to make it float but then she makes it float when nobody is around. Then she seems to be able to talk just fine to Mike about the bullies at school. So why isn't she explaining better about Will? She's just choosing to be difficult to these boys who are helping her. She already got the diner owner killed because she didn't talk.

The ending was pretty sad, but that's because hugging your mom is an emotional thing, not because of this show. I think this is a good episode to stop watching.

The Weirdo on Maple Street

Stranger Things
S01E02
Season 1 Episode 2

I guess people binge watched this show, because watching 1 episode per day, I'm mostly ambivalent about it. It's like how I feel about the original Ghostbusters: everyone else loves it but I don't see what the big deal is. I see all the influences from 80s movies but it's really not that appealing unless you are some film buff.

This episode has 11 being difficult again & using her telekinetic power to trap the boys after she almost undresses in front of them. 11 said that Will is hiding from the monster that apparently ate Barbara at the pool.

I did not need to see anorexic Nancy took off her clothes to have sex with Jeff. I liked that the dad pointed out that he does want to see his sons more & it's their mom who is filling their heads with these ideas.

The Vanishing of Will Byers

Stranger Things
S01E01
Season 1 Episode 1

I like that the 4 boys were playing Dungeons & Dragons for 10 hours & riding bicycles, it was like looking at Anytown USA, before the country went bad. The boys were also actually young. It did remind me of Stand by Me & ET. I don't remember Goonies that well, but that too. It wasn't boring.

So weird to see Wynonna Ryder playing a single mom & I didn't even recognize Mathew Modine.

That diner owner was nice to her & he was murdered because of 11, so she better start talking soon. Is she some hybrid, born of that weird thing? Are they doing experiments there like The Mist?
